An illustrative and easy-to-use guideline on good hygiene practices in health centres was developed jointly with the district hygiene service of Markala and Macina.
The document was shared in 33 health centres. Each centre serves many villages (several thousands of people). They generally have 4 to 6 employees and they manage around 500 patients per month. Furthermore, over 70 health workers were formed on good hygiene practices in theory and practice based on this guideline.
Five months after the training, the following promising results were observed in the 33 health centres in the project intervention area: 100% chlorinate the water and measure the residual chloride in the water. And 54% of the health centres clean and disinfect all rooms and delivery rooms at least once a day.
