Small scale irrigation practices in Keraro (Ethiopia) are improved by strengthening local capacities of communities and government representatives. 45 community members form a cooperative to practice small scale irrigation on three hectare communal land using a solar energy driven system, provided by the project. The irrigation committee is responsible for operation and maintenance of the irrigation scheme and crop diversification as a means of reducing failure and risk aversion is used.
