Thanks to our project, the monitoring of WASH in 35 health centres is now done via Smartphone in Mali. Data collection is possible through a Smartphone application (Kobo Collect) that can collect and analyze empirically the changing risks and identify areas for improvement.
A presentation of the tool was made during a National Workshop on "Promoting WASH in the health facilities in Mali" organised by the National Directorate of Health and UNICEF. The tool is used across the region.
An evaluation of the mobile-based monitoring system has indicated a decrease of infection risks in six out of eight health centres involved in the project. The monitoring tool is now further developed and tested based on the WHO indicators for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in health centres.
The experiences have been documented and shared in the video presented at the Consortium Regional workshop 2016 in Parakou, Benin.
