All three Consortium partners in Nepal are working in the Mid and Far western districts and have been well recognized by the local authorities [respective regional water, sanitation and hygiene coordination committees (RWASHCCs) and district water, sanitation and hygiene coordination committees (DWASHCCs)] as the important actors in ODF movement. Consortium partners are presently working in 11 districts in the above two regions. Of the eleven, eight districts have already been declared as ODF districts.

In the process of sustaining ODF, an approach of Social Marketing was piloted in a small village with 107 households in Dailekh district. Social marketing is the use of commercial marketing techniques to promote the adoption of behaviour that will improve the health or well-being of the target audience or of society as a whole. As a result, the village became a model sanitation village which was formally declared as a "Model Sanitation Village" by the concerned WASHCC.
